FEI and FEIAA

The Federal Executive Institute (FEI) in Charlottesville, Virginia, is the Federal Government's premier executive development center. FEI was established by Presidential Order in 1968, and is operated by the U. S. Office of Personnel Management. It is sometimes referred to as the "West Point of the Civil Service." Federal and state agencies send their brightest senior executives and managers to residential training programs at FEI.

The Federal Executive Institute Alumni Association is the exclusive network of graduates of FEI residential programs. FEIAA enjoys very close cooperative relationships with the FEI and OPM, while maintaining its independence as a nonprofit corporation. FEIAA is the foremost professional service and networking organization of government executives in America. Since its founding in 1970, FEIAA's main goals have been to support and strengthen FEI; to provide executive development opportunities (such as the Executive Forum) for its members; to promote excellence in the Public Service and to represent the views and interests of our members. Rich in tradition, FEIAA is a very special and unique association of executives who have shared the "FEI Experience."

Our Goals

Support and strengthen FEI;
Provide executive development and networking opportunities for our members;
Promote excellence in Federal service;
Represent the views and interest of our members.

A Volunteer Organization

FEIAA prides itself on the high level of volunteer efforts of its members. The organization is run by elected volunteers. Although it contracts for accounting services and assistance with program activities, it heavily relies on volunteer participation. This enables FEIAA to offer its membership services at a far lower dues structure than other organizations.

FEIAA develops its policy positions and training programs through volunteer committees. Similarly, FEIAA is represented at hearings, meetings, and testimonial appearances with its elected officers. Thus, FEIAA members' dues are spent primarily to provide direct membership benefits, including this Directory, and to support FEI and FEIAA programs. Consequently, dues have been kept very low.

What We Do

While maintaining an inexpensive dues structure, FEIAA is nonetheless extremely active and influential, thanks to an active corps of officers, directors, agency representatives, and committee members. The Association supports FEI; sponsors a variety of executive development and other public service and membership service programs and publications; and provides virtually unlimited networking opportunities for members.
