TSP Modernization Act: New Withdrawal Rules and New Opportunities
August 16, 2018 - 12:00 to 1:00 PM

Presenter: Mark Keen, CFP

Although it’s difficult, if not impossible, to find lower cost investment options, TSP participants pull out about $9 billion each year from their TSP accounts as they turn 59 ½ or leave the federal workforce. The primary reason, as TSP surveys show, is due to the restrictive withdrawal rules. Soon, however, TSP participants will no longer need to look elsewhere for flexibility, as the TSP Modernization Act, which will take effect sometime in 2019, revamps the withdrawal rules and provides the control TSP participants have been longing for. During this webinar, you’ll learn about: the current withdrawal rules and the changes the TSP Modernization act will make; withdrawal strategies to bridge the gap until the TSP Modernization Act takes effect; and how to leverage the new rules to maximize the tax benefits of the TSP.
