FEIAA Happenings: Welcoming a New Member to the FEIAA Board of Directors
Share |

Sharnell Montgomery is a graduate of FEI’s LDS 435. She ran in the most recent Board election and has agreed to join us to finish out a departed member’s term.

Montgomery is the director of the Division of Customer Support (DCS) within the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Office of Financial Systems. DCS oversees DOL’s New Core Financial Management System (NCFMS), which supports DOL’s finance and accounting activities, records financial transactions, pays vendors, generates financial statements, and serves approximately 17,000 DOL employees. Through NCFMS, DOL is modernizing its financial management capabilities and supporting its mission to uphold strong financial management principles and accountability.

Montgomery oversees the NCFMS Support Program and has helped drive several efforts to enhance technical stability of the system, increase efficiency, improve customer service, and provide cost savings to DOL. She is an active leader in the Association of Government Accountants DC Chapter, where she’s served as the director of the Mentorship Committee for several years.

Montgomery offers the following thoughts on the role she plans to play on the FEIAA Board:

I am interested in serving as a member of the FEIAA Board because after one year of leaving FEI, I am still reflecting on the memories, lessons learned, friendships made, and realities faced that have helped me transform my leadership skills in my position. To date, I still am practicing the different values shared at FEI. I want to help future FEI participants feel the appreciation I have about the FEI experience.
