FEIAA Happenings: Welcoming a New Member to the FEIAA Board of Directors

 SECTIONS:

Lisa Bercher is a graduate of FEI’s LDS 447. She ran in the most recent Board election and has agreed to join us to finish out a departed member’s term.

Bercher is the program manager for the Terminal Automation Modernization and Replacement (TAMR) program office at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) within the U.S. Department of Transportation.

TAMR is responsible for the modernization, operation, and maintenance of the National Airspace System (NAS). Within the NAS, air traffic controllers work to separate an average of 43,000 aircraft daily. The TAMR program ensures that FAA NextGen technologies can operate successfully within the NAS by upgrading the terminal automation air traffic control system at over 150 terminal radar approach control facilities and over 400 air traffic control towers with the Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS). STARS simplifies the implementation of NextGen enhancements that will improve air traffic flow and separation in the NAS.

By deploying STARS across the NAS, the TAMR program office, through Bercher’s leadership, is laying the groundwork for future air traffic management technologies and is increasing system capacity, safety, and reliability.

Bercher offers the following thoughts on her desire to serve on the FEI Board and the role she plans to play:

“As a past member of FEI, I’ve spent time reflecting on my experience and realized that FEI taught me so much and helped me gain valuable insight into my career. I’m ready to take all that I’ve learned as a member of FEI and become a leader within the organization so that I can help future FEI participants learn and grow as I was able to.”
