“Some of our finest work comes through service to others” — Gordon B. Hinckley

After two exceptional years as a member of the Federal Executive Institute Alumni Association Board of Directors, my term will come to an end effective December 31, 2018. When I joined the Board in late 2016, I had no idea what my impacts would be or how I would end up being of service not only to the Board but to the over 800 FEI alumni who make up this great organization. I had no previous board experience; however, I went in with the intention to serve, make a difference, and make new friends along the way. Boxes checked!

I have loved my role as the Communications Committee lead, and am honored to have had the opportunity to be part of the evolution of the Executive Summary’s move from print to digital. It truly has been a privilege to have known and worked with so many inspiring and creative people.

Without reservation, serving on the Board of Directors has been one of the most valuable experiences I have had. Trina M. Smith (LDS 413)

Marc Flaster, LDS 323

I have been asked to write about my farewell to the FEIAA Board. Actually, I really don't see my stepping down from the Board after two terms as a definitive farewell. I have relished being on the Board over the past six years, having met many fine people in FEI and in the FEIAA community as well. I have grown as an individual, have taken on more responsibilities, and have enjoyed working through the various projects and social events that we have held over this time period. Being president for three years had its ups and downs, but I wouldn’t have traded the experience for anything. I plan to stay actively involved with the FEIAA Board, and continue my progress in developing our partnership with the Senior Executives Association as well as assisting with the Executive Forum for 2019. Right now, I am bullish on FEIAA and our forward progress and have extended my membership for another year; and if I feel the same way a year from now, I’ll consider running again for the FEIAA Board to help guide its future direction.

Thank you all for your support and assistance over the past six years.
