Petrina Nelson currently serves as a Senior Procurement Analyst at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), where she advises the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Acquisitions on key matters related to the HHS Acquisition Enterprise and provides oversight and support to the Contracting Enterprise. 

Before her role at HHS, Petrina was a Senior Procurement Analyst for the United States Coast Guard (USCG). In this capacity, she provided leadership, to USCG Contracting Enterprise, with a focus on advising and reviewing requirements for major systems and assets valued at over $1 billion.

Petrina is the Executive Director of the LovingKindness Community Development Corporation, the outreach arm of her church, where she works to impact her community positively.

A recognized leader in public service, Petrina has received the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Jefferson Award and the Channel 9 USA Care Award for her contributions to the community.

She is a graduate of LDS 508 at the Federal Executive Institute and holds both a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in administrative management/public administration. Petrina is highly credentialed, with a Level III Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting (FAC-C) and a Level III Federal Acquisition Certification for Contracting Officer Representative (COR).
